Will-Power

I started the Giraffe from Itty Bitty Toys last night.  This wasn't the project I was meaning to pick up at the moment, but lately I've just really felt the pull towards this pattern.  Every time I finish off one project and get ready to start another, it tugs on my memory saying "knit me! knit me!"  Up until now I've had the will power to say no.  I broke down last night and cast-on.

I think I'm really going to enjoy this project.  It's a bigger toy, so it will take longer than the others, but I think the results will be well worth the effort.  And I can't wait to see X cuddling, tugging, hauling, playing and loving on this toy. :)  Since he's finally getting into the stage where he likes "stuffed animals" this is a good time for this guy.

I've also found that since I queued up Giraffe, I've been drawn to many other giraffe patterns on Ravelry.  Who knows, maybe by this time next year X will have a giraffe collection?  Probably not likely, but you never know.  Like this Sock Giraffe - how cute is that?! And I have to admit that this pattern, Mango, was love at first sight.  I wouldn't go so far as to say he'll be the next toy I cast-on, but the chances are good. :)

Other projects on the needles right now?  Just a few.............

I know, I know, I know....I keep saying I need to get that hat finished.  My momentum on that hat seems to have stalled lately.  I was really into it when I first started, and then I had to put it down to finish some other knitting obligations.  I keep finding other things that are more fun to knit...like toys....  And since a hat isn't really necessary for this season, that seems to make the project less important.  I think I'll like the finished hat, I'm enjoying the colors I chose.  I should just know better than to put something down for so long.  So I think one of my goals is going to be to finish that hat before the end of the week.  Since it's just Tuesday now, I think I can accomplish this goal (end of the week being Saturday - not the end of the weekend, which obviously is Sunday).  I know it will feel good when I've finished it, woven in the ends and I can admire my work.  It's time to step up and get it done! (Can you tell?  I'm trying to be my own motivational speaker/cheerleader...I'm not sure how well it's working...)

On a fun note, when looking through "the stash" I found an extra hank of white Cascade 220 Superwash!  What a fun find!  Some people think, wow, white, that's sort of boring.  I think - hooray!  More yarn to experiment with! :)  I think I'll be ording some Wilton's dye soon to try alongside KoolAid.  Especially in black and delphinium blue...I've heard these colors "break" in great ways.  :)

Okay - enough bloggy goodness for now!

  1. I'm saying "yeah!" for your cascade find, and looking forward to seeing what you come up! Likewise, I'm anticipating your giraffe, it's such a cute pattern, and i really like the blue.
